NADH
:FOR CHRONIC FATIGUE SYNDROME.
A
recent study has shown that the misunderstood, much -maligned chronic fatigue
syndrome (CFS) may have new hope. CFS begins with flu-like symptoms, followed by
months or years of lethargy, weakness, and inability to concentrate. CFS
sufferers experience persistent fatigue, muscle aches and pains, headaches and
sore throat. Researchers know that CFS causes the body's immune system to go
berserk.
A
new study by Georgetown University done on Nicotinamide Adenine Dicnucleotide (NADH),
a co-enzyme found in all living cells, revealed that a significant number of
patients with CFS showed remarkable improvements. The initial result show that
NADH replenishes the depleted cellular stores of adenoise triphospate (ATP), the
body's storehouse of energy, easing fatigue and improving cognitive functions.
The clinical study, presented at the meeting of The American College of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology, tested NADH in a double blind, placebo - controlled crossover study of patients with CFS. These yielded the following results:-Over
31% of the CFS patients tested improved significantly with NADH
CFS
patients taking NADH were four times more likely to improve than taking a
placebo.
So
how does it work? Oxygen, glucose and the co-enzyme NADH supply the brain and
the muscles with energy. NADH is as important as oxygen and glucose in the
production of cellular energy. The good news is just the latest in a long list
of positive results from George Birkmayer M.D. The clinical director of
Birkmayer Institute for Parkinson's Therapy and the chairman of Birkmayer
Pharmaceuticals and Birkmayer Laboratories, Birkmayer believes in research and
spends a small fortune to sponsor clinical trials for NADH.
In
addition to The CFS study, a current study by the Nicholas Institute of Sports
Medicine and Athletic Trauma at Lenox Hill Hospital showed that NADH had
applications for endurance athletes as well. By taking 5 mg daily, the study
showed improved oxygen capacity and greater mental alertness.
The
average person will find a great advantage taking NADH as a daily supplement. It
is claimed to energise body and brain activity, improve alertness,
concentration, emotions.
NADH
is completely save, a natural compound, says Henry Preuss, M. D, Georgetown
University Medical Center.
