FRUIT AND VEGGIES / NUTRI BUDDIESEating
is the only way ordinary people can get all the nutrients needed daily, so we
have to concentrate and try to find how you get your ninety nutrients a day at
your peak of health. I have just mentioned three very important things in the
previous sentence, the first is ninety, there are ninety different vitamins,
minerals, trace elements) many people think that just taking Vitamin C it will
make them fit and healthy, but what about the other eighty nine. The second
point to that sentence is daily, you need ninety nutrients "daily,,, no one
would expect a machine or car to run without adequate fuel, but those same
people expect their bodies to function on half rations or less. Everyday you
must take all the ninety nutrients, it's no good saying I'll have half today and
half tomorrow. The water soluble vitamins and minerals are excreted if you have
too much, so it's also no good to double dosage on certain days, they will not
make up for the days missed, and the damage is already done. The last point of
the sentence is "the peak of health", one of the things in life that
amazes me is the way the human body tolerates so much abuse, and still function
properly. Despite the body's deficiency in nutrients it still tries to continue
to give the best service it can.
Everyday
we are in contact with chemicals in the air in our water, and in the food we eat
and we still expect our bodies to perform at 100%, no one questions if the body
is able to perform,
or if there are enough nutrients to provide adequate energy, people just
go one pushing their body to it's limit day in and day out. With over 100,000
artificial chemicals around now we are all having a daily battle. A chemical
entering the respiratory tract) in otherwise breathed in, will sit in the lungs,
if it's small h will be eaten by blood cells and removed, if it's to big it will
stay in the lungs, forming damage and attacking the lungs, causing emphysema. If
the chemical enters via the skin it can be absorbed by the blood supply and
taken to the liver, some chemicals are toxic to the skin itself and can cause
dermatitis, with dry scaly itchy skin. When chemicals are swallowed and are
toxic they can cause nausea, vomiting and diarrhea, if not they are absorbed and
taken to the liver. The liver can be thought of as the main factory of the body,
it is the most complex organ in the body, and 1 1/2 litres of blood per minute
pass through it. It's cell's have a constant job in producing bile,
organising carbohydrate metabolism, control of cholesterol metabolism,
manufacturing enzymes and proteins, and finally the metabolism and detoxifying
of chemicals, drugs and foreign bodies. So any chemical entering the body have
to be detoxified, or neutralised and made into a form that can be excreted via
the bowel or urine. This is never a simple procedure, there are numerous enzyme
actions, and when finished the body has got rid of the chemicals or toxins, but
also has done two other things. It has used up valuable enzymes, proteins and
has interrupted the liver's normal functions, because it had to remove hazardous
toxins and waste.
So
where does the liver get all it's power and the body it's energy? The answer Is
with the food we eat. The food has all the fats, carbohydrates, proteins that
are required by the body. But what about the other nutrients needed daily?
Doctors will confirm that if you become deficient in some nutrients you will
become sick, I quote the obvious example, a lack of Vitamin C, will cause
scurvy, a lack of protein you will recognise from the reports from television
when you see the young children with bloated stomachs, this is the liver
swelling up The view with many top nutritionists that the food is not totally
deficient in nutrients, but there is a much lower level of nutrients in our food
than there used to be.
There
is less Vitamin C in the body but not enough to cause scurvy, but enough
deficiency to cause a reduction of functions in some parts of the body, but how
do we know there is a deficiency in nutrients. In the 1930's an American Senate
committee concluded that American soils were deficient in nutrients, and that
every American should supplement their diet. If that is the state of American
soils in 200 years, what are the soils like in Britain, where farming has gone
on for thousands of years.
Universities
in Britain have shown that Selenium and Zinc levels in our soil, have been
reduced in some cases up to 50%, that's 1/2 the Recommended Daily Allowance. The
RDA were fixed many years ago, when they tried to fix the amount that what level
diseases started at otherwise below that level you would get the disease, above
that level meant you were just above sick to be all right, depending on your
intake. What is the effect if we don't get our ninety nutrients?, our
antioxidant levels fall and we become prey to all the ravages of chemicals, and
we are attacked by natural pollutants like sunshine and early ageing.
Doctors
tell us we must eat five fruit portions, and five fresh raw vegetables a day.
Well most people are set in their ways and habits and usually eat the same two
or three vegetables every day, this means you are getting the same nutrient
intake, so with soil depleted with nutrients, there is an increased deficiency
in certain minerals and vitamins, For instance a shortage of Vitamin B 12, this
Vitamin is essential in the production of red blood cells, if there is a
reduction, because of a deficiency, the body responds by making the red blood
cells bigger, it continues to do this as long as ft can, but then the cells
can't survive and the person becomes anemic. The only way to avoid this is to
eat a rich and varied diet every day. The best vegetables to eat are the ones
that contain the most goodness, the ones, especially children don't like, the
green broad leaf plants like cabbage, spinach and broccoli.
Well
the great news is that Nutrition For Life have brought out a Fruit and Veggies
for adults and Nutri Buddies for children, over two years of age. Two amazing
products that have been carefully thought out, and that will form the foundation
for many people's nutrition throughout Britain. Nutritionists have for a long
time tried to overcome the difficulty of getting a blend of foods that could
guarantee a great mineral and vitamin intake, but be in a acceptable form. The
amounts of food needed were so large that they found to many drawbacks, the size
of the portions were so big and had to be eaten every day, and wont of all had
to be eaten raw. Why raw?, everyone knows cooking removes valuable water soluble
vitamins and minerals, and their enzymes. When enzymes are heated they lose
their potency, if you microwave the food the enzymes are destroyed completely.
So if the foods could be powdered then the volume problem was solved, and the smaller amounts meant the taste wouldn't matter. To powder the food you must dry it remove the water ,this can be done in three ways , heating, vacuuming and cooling, as mentioned before heating damages enzymes, to dry food by placing in a vacuum is a long process, freeze drying was tried but was found to damage the food. Some companies have tried fast chilling in an attempt to increase production, but Nutrition For Life has thoroughly researched this, and there quality control officers have insisted the only way was the slow chilled process. For days the foods would be laid and the temperature dropped to freezing, slowly and gently the water can be extracted, preserving the important vitamins, minerals and trace elements. The foods are powdered into two products, Fruits And Veggies for adults, and Nutri Buddies for children. The foods that have been chosen for there diversity and nutritional properties. It hasn't been left to chance, a lot of careful thought and planning has gone into the research, and all foods are organically grown. In
the Veggies there is broccoli, spinach, cabbage as well as barley, carrots,
oats, parsley and tomatoes. Also added to both the Fruit and Veggies is Acidophilus,
this has been done to normalise the bowel, so nutrients arc better absorbed.
Also included is fibre, in the form of soluble and insoluble form, the first is
to help reduce the blood cholesterol, the second remaining in the bowel stopping
excess cholesterol being absorbed, and regulating the bowel. Also extra enzymes
to help with absorption, amylase,
protase to break down the fats, carbohydrates and proteins, and garlic,
which is well known for helping the blood, heart and respiratory system. Lastly
included is Green Tea extract, Green Tea has been researched and proved to help
against skin cancer.
In
the fruit capsules are apple, cranberry,
orange,
papaya, peach and pineapple, and grape seed extract (a tremendous source
of antioxidant, a superb researched product).
Fruit
and Veggies come in separate bottles, and are bought in pairs, one of each. The
recommended way to take them is to have two Fruit capsules in the morning and
two Veggies and night. Do not take within half an hour before or after tea or
coffee, as the hot liquid damages the potency of the capsules. Nutri Buddies are
shaped as chewy teddy bears with carrot, parsley, tomato, broccoli and spinach,
with wheat grass, barley grass and soy grass, blended with papaya, apple and
added Vitamin C, and the juices of grapes, pears and apples.
